Here we see Pegleg Pete from the 1933 Oswald the Lucky Rabbit short "In the Zoo". Disney kept using Pete even after Oswald got taken away. I'm not sure why neither side sued the other over this, but the character stayed in both the Oswald lineup and the Disney stable.
